Overview

The Senior Relationship Manager is a strategic professional who follows the latest trends in the Technology and FinTech sector, adapts them for client engagement, and has a deep understanding of the competitive landscape. The role requires expertise in understanding a client’s financial performance, participation in the credit underwriting process, and strong knowledge of debt capital markets. The manager must build consensus internally, manage risk and credit committee discussions, and deliver Citi’s global platform to clients, driving wallet capture and exceeding return hurdles.

Responsibilities

  • Self‑originate new, multi‑product and multi‑country clients for CCB UK and manage those relationships on an ongoing basis.
  • Actively call on clients to deepen relationships, anticipate future needs, challenges or risks, and pursue new opportunities aligned with Citi’s value proposition.
  • Understand and follow industry trends to provide thought leadership and drive innovation with product specialists and subject matter experts.
  • Structure deals that balance risk and reward, leading a deal team through complex transactions.
  • Oversee the credit relationship of the client, coordinating the entire process and ensuring proper application of policies and institutional processes.
  • Be the best for clients by understanding and delivering on holistic treasury and strategic agendas.
  • Responsible for client‑level planning, budgeting, and revenue responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, consultative, and leadership skills.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi’s policies, assessing risk and safeguarding the firm’s reputation.
  • Provide mentorship to Analysts, Associates, and Junior Bankers.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience within Commercial or Corporate Banking.
  • In‑depth knowledge of all aspects of commercial banking, including commercial credit and the ability to quickly learn new products and services.
  • Expert level early warning detection and credit skills; capable of structuring all credit deals and guiding staff through the approval process.
  • Advanced knowledge of Citi’s credit process and credit appetite.
  • Ability to work effectively in team settings and lead multi‑functional teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize quickly, and communicate clearly.
  • Accountable for significant direct business results, including revenue growth and client portfolio development.
  • Proactive approach to strengthening business relationships and delivering secure, seamless client experiences.
  • Comfort with new technology and understanding of the digital role in client experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills (negotiation, consultative skills, leadership).

Education

Bachelor’s/University degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Certification Regime

This is a Certified Role, subject to the Certification Regime which ensures employees are fit and proper to carry out their responsibilities. The role requires assessments of honesty, integrity, financial soundness, competence and capability through interviews, disclosures, background checks and a yearly fitness declaration.

Additional Information

The Senior Relationship Manager will represent CCB UK in the external market, mentor junior staff, and must be aware that the role is subject to the Certification Regime effective 7March2016.
