The DRVN Automotive Group are seeking a Flying Technician to join our team in a low-volume vehicle environment where innovation, craftsmanship, and rapid iteration are at the core of everything we do.

As a Flying Technician you will provide specialist technical support, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and vehicle commissioning services for high-performance, luxury, and motorsport vehicles. The role involves extensive travel to customer locations, race circuits, manufacturer events, test facilities, dealerships, and private collections, ensuring exceptional technical standards and customer service are maintained at all times.

Flying Technician

  • Salary: £45,000 – £55,000

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Diagnostics

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, fault finding, servicing, and repairs on luxury, performance, and motorsport vehicles.
  • Support vehicle preparation, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic faults using manufacturer diagnostic equipment.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections, health checks, and technical assessments.
  • Carry out software updates, calibrations, and system programming where applicable.

Motorsport & Event Support

  • Provide technical support at race meetings, track days, manufacturer events, and vehicle launches.
  • Assist with vehicle setup, optimisation, and troubleshooting during events.
  • Support pit lane, paddock, and workshop operations when required.
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained to the highest performance and safety standards.
  • Assist engineering teams with vehicle development and testing programmes.

Customer & VIP Support

  • Deliver a premium concierge-style technical service to high-net-worth clients.
  • Attend customer locations to diagnose and resolve vehicle issues.
  • Provide technical advice and vehicle performance recommendations.
  • Maintain discretion and professionalism when working with private clients and exclusive collections.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, drivers, teams, and stakeholders.

Travel & Field Service Operations

  • Travel nationally and internationally at short notice.
  • Support global customer events, race programmes, and manufacturer activities.
  • Coordinate logistics and equipment requirements for deployments.
  • Manage service schedules while ensuring minimal disruption to customers and operations.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and motorsport regulations.
  • Adhere to workshop, circuit, and customer-site safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate service records and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards and operating procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Recognised Automotive Technician qualification (NVQ Level 3, IMI Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience working with luxury, prestige, or high-performance vehicles.
  • Advanced diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience using manufacturer diagnostic systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Flexibility to travel extensively, including weekends and international assignments.

Desirable

  • Experience within motorsport, GT racing, Formula, endurance racing, or track support environments.
  • Motorsport UK qualification or race team experience.
  • HGV or trailer licence.
