Safety and Wellbeing Officer Contract: Healthcare Location: Coventry, CV2 2DX Hours of work: 37.5 Working Pattern: 5 days over 7 on a rotating shift pattern covering: 06:00–14:00 14:00–22:00 22:00–06:00 Contract Type: Permanent Hourly Rate: £13.33 We are seeking compassionate and proactive individuals to join our Patient Minding Team as a Healthcare Safety & Wellbeing Officer with ISS. This is a vital frontline role focused on creating a safe, calm, and supportive environment for patients – particularly those who may be vulnerable or under section. You will work closely with clinical teams to prevent incidents, reduce conflict, and promote dignity and wellbeing through continuous presence, early engagement, and trauma-informed approaches. This position plays a key role in bridging the gap between security, healthcare professionals, and patients, ensuring safety while delivering an exceptional and empathetic service.  The Role Maintain a visible, reassuring presence across wards and departments Build positive relationships with patients, particularly those who may be distressed or vulnerable Use verbal de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques to prevent incidents Identify early signs of agitation or risk and intervene appropriately Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams to support patient care Promote a culture of safety, dignity, and respect Accurately document behaviours, risks, and interventions Support efforts to reduce restrictive practices through proactive engagement About You We are looking for individuals who are: Highly skilled in verbal de-escalation and conflict resolution Able to build rapport quickly with diverse individuals Emotionally intelligent with an understanding of trauma-informed practice Calm, patient, and composed under pressure Observant, with the ability to read behavioural cues and anticipate risk Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal skills A team player who collaborates effectively with healthcare professionals Committed to delivering outstanding patient-centred service Professional, ethical, and confident in decision-making Passionate about safety, wellbeing, and preventing harm The Company ISS is a world-leading workplace and facility management company, connecting people and places to make the world work better.
