Head of Community Role

The Head of Community role at The Theatre Chipping Norton leads on engagement with our community, identifies need and creates programmes to meet it. The role offers the unique opportunity to make connections and create support that has lasting, life‑changing impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead community engagement, identify needs and develop programmes that address Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, and economic deprivation.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of partners to meet people where they are, respond to need and tackle isolation and inequality at its root.
  • Work within the Take Part Department, line‑managed by the Take Part Director, and cooperate with the Take Part Officer, Mental Health Project Co‑ordinator and project managers supporting older people.
  • Instruct the Take Part Officer on involvement in certain projects and manage project managers as needed.
  • Attend Take Part events, including evenings and weekends, with required flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Strong professional experience in community arts and social impact work.
  • Passion for the arts and a demonstrated capacity to effect positive change in people’s lives.

Benefits & Working Conditions

  • Salary up to £27,340 (FTE – 35 hours per week).
  • Hours 21–35 per week, part‑time or full‑time as preferred.
  • Permanent role after a 6‑month probationary period.
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service.
  • Free tickets to most performances at The Theatre.
  • Work in person with occasional home working.
