A leading global investment bank is hiring a Director-level Market Data leader to sit within a central front-office aligned function, owning vendor strategy, commercial negotiations and stakeholder engagement across the organisation.
This is a senior, highly visible role with broad cross-asset exposure, working directly with trading desks, quant teams and technology to shape how market data is sourced, governed and optimised at scale.
Role
- Own a portfolio of strategic market data vendors across key product categories
- Lead commercial negotiations with major providers (e.g. Bloomberg, LSEG, exchanges)
- Act as the senior point of contact for vendor relationships and contractual matters
- Partner directly with trading, quant and technology teams to understand and challenge data demand
- Translate business requirements into vendor strategy, sourcing decisions and commercial outcomes
- Drive cost optimisation, vendor rationalisation and global spend governance
- Contribute to broader market data strategy, operating model and governance forums
Profile
- Extensive experience in market data, vendor management or data procurement within financial markets
- Strong understanding of:
- market data licensing and usage rights
- exchange policies, redistribution and audit risk
- how data is used across trading, quant and analytics environments
- Comfortable engaging senior front office and technology stakeholders
- Experience managing spend, contracts and vendor portfolios at scale
- Strong commercial judgement with the ability to balance business needs and cost discipline
This is a great role for a hands-on market data leader who has strong commercial experience on the vendor side and good understanding of the technical landscape behind market data for trading, research, and technology teams.
