Overview
Due to the upcoming recategorisation of HMP Brixton to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team. The site is based close to Brixton underground station with good access via public transport. The role involves working within receptions, with the new intake of patients on Saturdays. During the reception period, we offer a nurse‑led service; GP’s will be involved in same‑day medications, leavers medication, acute health needs and substance misuse detox and prescribing.
Working Hours & Schedule
Hours: Monday 9am‑9pm, Saturday 8am‑4pm. Initially two sessions on Monday, increasing to three sessions upon re‑categorisation in Aug/Sep. This position is part‑time, 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients.
- Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis, and make timely decisions regarding future management.
- Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team.
- Actively participate in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- MBChB or MBBS.
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List.
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal.
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse.
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications.

Compensation
Annual salary up to £129,500 FTE – depending on experience.
