Senior Design Engineer

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer to work with Murphy Applied Engineering in Stone Cross, Warrington. Our engineering teams represent a multi‑disciplined range of engineering skills, adding value across all our sectors, and pushing the boundaries of digital construction, engineering innovation and design to deliver intelligent, sustainable and economical engineering solutions.

Under the banner of Murphy Applied Engineering, our in‑house teams include civil, structural, mechanical, geotechnical and process engineers. They design both permanent and temporary works for projects in all our locations and are a trusted source of expert advice for both Murphy colleagues and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Represent the MAE team in collaborative project team meetings.
• Report to the Team Senior/Principal Design Engineer or Senior Engineering Manager.
• Carry out civil/structural designs.
• Undertake site visits when appropriate.
• Collate feedback on solutions and contribute to lessons learned meetings.
• Prepare fully integrated permanent works proposals/solutions to meet the company’s bid and project delivery stage requirements.
• Mentor junior staff and graduates within MAE.

Qualifications

• HND, Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Proficiency in concrete and steelwork design using both software and hand calculations, applying relevant design standards and Eurocodes.
• Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and a desire to develop relationships across the company.
• Open‑minded approach to solving civil and structural engineering challenges to find the best solution from all project perspectives.
• Willingness to visit the company’s sites and offices.
• Working towards chartership with ICE/IStructE.
