Principal Electrical Engineer – Dorset Innovation Park, Dorchester – Permanent. Competitive Salary.

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer ready to take the lead on cutting‑edge maritime projects? TKMS ATLAS UK is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to drive the design and integration of electrical systems across our advanced sonar, submarine, and autonomous technology programmes. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the design and development of electrical systems for complex maritime products
  • Define architectures, select components, and ensure safety and EMC compliance
  • Produce and review schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable assemblies
  • Support integration, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Conduct design reviews and maintain documentation accuracy
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers to grow team capability
  • Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and multidisciplinary teams

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical system design, including power distribution and control systems
  • Experience with CAD tools and CE/UKCA directives
  • Familiarity with EMC, electrical safety, and industry standards
  • System‑level integration and debugging experience
  • PLCs, motor control, or automation knowledge (desirable)
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and leadership skills
