CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT PROJECT MANAGER

  • Configuration Management Project Manager opportunity supporting major commercial aerospace programmes
  • £40 per hour via Umbrella | Initial contract until April 2027
  • Filton based role with 60% onsite working | 35-hour working week
  • BPSS Clearance required

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client is a world‑leading aerospace engineering organisation responsible for the design, manufacture and support of some of the most advanced aircraft programmes in operation today. Working within a highly collaborative and international environment, the client seeks an experienced Configuration Management Project Manager to join their team.

THE CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT PROJECT MANAGER ROLE

As the Project Change Leader (PCL) for engineering changes impacting a major aircraft structure programme, you will lead multi‑functional teams throughout the full change lifecycle, ensuring engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, procurement and business stakeholders are aligned to deliver successful implementation.

  • Lead engineering change requests from initiation through to implementation and closure
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, supply chain and finance
  • Manage project plans, risks, budgets, schedules and stakeholder engagement
  • Drive decision‑making and resolve issues across multiple business functions
  • Ensure changes are implemented on time, within cost and to quality requirements
  • Manage a portfolio of engineering changes of varying complexity
  • Support risk and opportunity management activities and recovery planning where required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within configuration management and programme delivery processes

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Previous experience within Configuration Management, Engineering Change Management or Product Configuration
  • Strong Project Management experience managing complex engineering projects
  • Knowledge of configuration management processes and change control procedures
  • Experience leading cross‑functional stakeholder groups and multi‑functional teams
  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing workloads
  • Engineering degree or equivalent technical background

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Aerospace or aviation industry experience
  • Airframe engineering knowledge
  • Configuration Management certification
  • PMI, PRINCE2 or equivalent Project Management certification
  • Experience working within large engineering or manufacturing organisations
