This is a pivotal opportunity to step into a dual clinical leadership and managerial role within the Warwickshire OutofHours (OOH) service, where highquality patient care and strong operational delivery work side by side.
As an autonomous Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner, youll bring credible senior clinical expertise while helping shape how the wider OOH service operates.
Working closely with the Medical Lead, Clinical Lead and Service Managers, youll become a trusted source of insight across clinical governance, performance, costeffective service delivery and workforce planning.
This role suits someone who thrives at the intersection of evidencebased practice and strategic managementbalancing clinical judgement with operational realities such as KPIs, spend and service efficiency.
A key part of your impact will be leading nonmedical workforce development across Warwickshire OOH.
Youll champion innovative ways of working, strengthen skill mix, and ensure staff are supported from recruitment through ongoing development.
As a visible role model, youll supervise, coach and mentor colleagues, helping embed high standards of care and governance throughout the service.
Acting on behalf of the Registered Managers, youll take ownership of critical service functions and provide assurance across performance, quality and safetymaking this a role where your leadership genuinely shapes urgent care delivery across Warwickshire.
This is a part time role for 3 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Oversee local medicines policies, ensure safe storage and availability, collaborate with medical, pharmacy and operational leads, and maintain uptodate audits.
- Manage local safeguarding policies, work with NHS/Social Care partners, provide Level 4 expertise, deliver supervision, support staff well being and ensure teams understand referral routes and alerts.
- Lead recruitment for the nonmedical workforce, interview against competency frameworks, create personalised development plans and foster a supportive learning environment.
- Investigate complaints and incidents, prepare reports, share learning and use Datix to ensure accurate governance reporting.
- Line Manage all ACPs/ANPs in the service.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, ACPs/ANPs, pharmacists, mental health colleagues and support staff; apply advanced clinical reasoning; manage complex presentations; act as a clinical role model.
- Exercise sound judgement in situations involving complexity or uncertainty, support teams in managing risk and practice within professional codes and scope.
- Operate within the Warwickshire OOH leadership, foster clarity of roles, lead service redesign, engage in peer review, champion coproduction and act as a superuser for Adastra and other IT systems.
- Demonstrate resilience, constructive challenge, uphold organisational values, support induction, contribute to emergency preparedness and advise the Service Manager on clinicalrelated issues.
Qualifications
We’re seeking a highly skilled, forwardthinking clinician who brings both advanced practice expertise and confident leadership to our Warwickshire OOH service.
A registered Advanced Clinical / Nurse Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration with uptodate re-validation and a Masterslevel Advanced Clinical Practice qualification or equivalent pathway.
Experience in supervisory or managerial roles, with the ability to work interdependently across multidisciplinary teams.
Strong understanding of urgent and emergency care environmentswhether OutofHours, Primary Care, UCC, Walkin Centers or mixed adult/child unscheduled careis essential.
Understands leadership vs operational management, can articulate evidencebased management approaches, and is fluent in the NHS rationale behind Integrated Urgent Care.
An advanced user of clinical decisionsupport or booking systems, with sound knowledge of how primary care interfaces with acute settings.
