Location: Greater London, UK. Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Hybrid. Seniority: Senior to Lead.

Sentinel is partnering with an established MEP consultancy that boasts a solid pipeline of high‑profile data centre projects. The role is to become the first hire in a new business department, providing senior leadership and direction in electrical design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of hyperscale data centre projects, including HV/LV power distribution, UPS systems, standby generation, automatic transfer switching, PDUs, lighting and small power circuits.
• Manage the end‑to‑end electrical design process to ensure outputs are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standard.
• Oversee the electrical procurement process – preparing performance specifications and tender packages, and technically evaluating contractor and equipment supplier submissions.
• Act as the primary electrical technical lead for client, contractor and wider design team interactions throughout each project.
• Carry out load calculations, fault level analysis, power quality studies and system resilience assessments.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Structural and Civil disciplines to produce fully coordinated design packages.
• Ensure designs comply with BS 7671, IEC 62305, EN 50600, Uptime Institute Tier standards and client requirements.
• Mentor and develop junior electrical engineers and CAD/BIM technicians.
