Overview
AtkinsRéalis UK Transportation business brings together the capabilities of our Rail, Highway and Local Transport teams in a single business of talented engineering professionals, transport planners and consultants. We provide end‐to‐end services in transportation and are the leading UK transportation infrastructure consultancy. The Central Rail Systems Alliance partners with Network Rail, Balfour Beatty, AtkinsRéalis and TSO to deliver multi‑disciplinary railway upgrade projects across the Northwest, Central and Eastern regions of the recently devolved routes.
Responsibilities
- Integrate with and support a team of design engineers working on electrical design within a rail environment.
- Produce electrical & power (E&P) design as part of a dedicated M&E design engineering team.
- Collaborate on site surveys and collate information from surveys, records or other sources (e.g., eB).
- Prepare design specifications that comply with company and Network Rail, British and European Standards.
- Produce design deliverable packages for professional submission, including drawings, calculations and reports.
- Create design drawings using MicroStation CAD.
- Coordinate and communicate with other design/construction disciplines and manufacturers.
- Participate in hazard workshops and risk assessments to ensure safety and technical assurance.
Qualifications
- Experience designing E&P/M&E schemes with proven competency, delivering all project elements safely, on time and to budget.
- HNC, HND, Degree qualification in Electrical/Electronic/Power engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience in Rail, Electrical and Power, Energy, Lighting, Electrical Engineering, Signalling power supply design, Points Heating design or similar.
- Working knowledge of relevant British standards (BS7671 / 18th Edition wiring regulations), Railway Group standards and Network Rail standards.
- Member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET).
Preferred Skills
- Full working knowledge of MicroStation 3D, Hevacomp, Amtech, DIALux, ETAP and other relevant software packages.
- City & Guilds training completed for the 18th Edition of IET Wiring Regulations.
- Awareness of Safety, Health, Environment & Assurance requirements.
