School Grounds Assistant Project Officer

Location: Brockholes Nature Reserve, Just off Junction 31 of the M6, Preston, Lancashire, PR5 0AG

We are looking for a dedicated individual to work alongside our School Grounds Officers in transforming school grounds into inspirational and exciting spaces that foster a love of the natural world in children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with groundwork, landscaping, and general maintenance of school grounds and reserve sites.
  • Support the planning and delivery of conservation activities for students and the wider community.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of educational programs that highlight local wildlife and habitats.
  • Carry out routine site inspections and record keeping to ensure high standards of park and garden health.
  • Collaborate with the broader Education team to align project activities with the Trust’s conservation goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience of practical conservation work, including habitat management or similar duties.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm for nature conservation, with a desire to share knowledge and hands‑on skills with young people.
  • Good organisational and communication skills, able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting, digging and maintaining outdoor facilities.
