West Summit is a UK-based systems and automation advisory. We help operations-heavy SMBs (trades/field services, property agencies, professional services) and SAP-running mid-market firms eliminate manual backlogs. We deliver enterprise-grade automation through our flagship product: the 3-Week Operations Sprint—building sandboxed workflow pipelines (n8n, Python, Postgres, Docker, LLM APIs) with built-in Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) exception queues.
We are looking for a Software Engineer to build, test, and deploy these automation pipelines. You will take process maps and turn them into running sandboxes, connect APIs, write custom data-extraction scripts, and build simple, reliable interfaces for client approvals.
What You’ll Do
- Build Automation Pipelines: Construct and test workflows in n8n connecting email inboxes, document extraction services, vector databases, and client databases.
- Write Custom Scripting: Write optimized Python code blocks for PDF data parsing, text sanitization, API transformations, and LLM orchestration (OpenAI, Claude, and local vLLMs).
- Develop Custom Interfaces: Build lightweight, secure web dashboards (React, Retool, or custom modules) to support Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) manual reviews for low-confidence data extractions.
- Contribute to the Code Moat: Document and package reusable code blocks, API connectors, and n8n nodes into our internal repository to speed up future Sprint delivery.
Who You Are
- Hands-on Developer: 6+ years of experience in backend development, systems integration, or software engineering.
- Tool-Fluent: Demonstrable experience with Python, Typescript, n8n (or similar node-based orchestrators like Make/Zapier), Docker, and PostgreSQL.
- Integrations Builder: Comfortable reading API documentation, handling rate limits, webhook subscriptions, and authentication (OAuth2, API Keys).
- Pragmatic Engineer: You write clean, readable code with robust error handling and structured logs. You build to solve real operational problems.
Our Engineering Philosophy
- At West Summit, we believe that the best automation is invisible, sandboxed, and exceptionally reliable. We don’t build standard “AI wrapper” apps. Instead, we solve hard integration problems—like piping LLM outputs safely into legacy ERPs or designing failsafe manual gates. We prioritize clean APIs, rate-limiting, and robust data schemas that keep operations running smoothly.
