Overview
Eaton Aerospace Group Mission Systems Division (MSD) seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Modeling and Simulation team. The role reports to the MSD Engineering Director and is responsible for global engineering activities supporting new product development, legacy products, and test equipment, with a focus on model‑based engineering (MBE) and model‑based systems engineering (MBSE).
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a global team of approximately 50 highly professional engineering staff, providing detailed analysis support for performance modeling, FEA, thermal, CFD, and related analyses for new product development, iR&D, and product support teams.
- Develop, implement, and mentor tools, processes, and best practices for MBE and MBSE across the organization.
- Drive organizational capability development, global aerospace alignment, and improved program execution through disciplined engineering processes, risk management, and portfolio/resource planning using leading indicators and metrics.
- Lead the implementation of organizational performance measures, best‑cost‑country engineering capabilities, and refine technology strategy for specific business units.
- Advise on digital processes such as Model‑Based Definition (MBD) and ensure alignment with the Aerospace Group strategy.
- Oversee product documentation, design standards, and material specifications to maintain competitive quality, reliability, and cost on a global basis.
- Collaborate with Aerospace Group and corporate Centers of Excellence to create a seamless product development and execution process.
- Promote a culture of “analysis first,” robust design (DFSS), and continuous improvement across engineering functions.
- Establish global engineering strategy, monitor key metrics, and implement improvements in partnership with Operations Excellence to achieve year‑over‑year manufacturing cost reductions.
- Build and maintain relationships with universities to foster advanced product development and pipeline talent.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution (required).
- Advanced engineering degree or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience within the aerospace industry, including 10 years in new product development and sustaining support, and 8 years of leadership or management experience.
- Experience in one or more specialized analysis disciplines (FEA, CFD, thermal, performance).
- Proven track record of leading global teams and driving change through technology development plans.
- Strong skills in competitive analysis, business‑level strategy, portfolio and program management, and new product introduction.
- Experience with MBSE tools, processes, and program execution.
- DFSS Greenbelt certification (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively in a matrixed, global virtual engineering environment.
- Up to 40% travel may be required.
