DevOps Engineer

Job Summary

Barclays is seeking a DevOps Engineer who will design, develop and improve software while driving continuous delivery and optimisation of our build and deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensure that code is scalable, maintainable and optimized for performance.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers to define software requirements and devise solution strategies.
• Participate in code reviews, promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Keep informed of industry technology trends and actively contribute to technology communities.
• Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
• Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability and reliability.
• Ensure continuous delivery pipeline, deployment and build processes, support API delivery, implement updates, prepare deployment‑ready packages and ensure reliable, automated delivery workflows.
• Support out‑of‑hours deployments or incident resolution a few times per year.

Qualifications

• Considerable DevOps & Automation Experience (Jenkins, GitHub/BitBucket, CI/CD pipelines).
• Cloud & Container Platform Proficiency (AWS, Docker, OpenShift).
• Linux & Scripting experience (Shell, Groovy, YAML).
• Knowledge of Java/Gradle or application support background.
• Experience with configuration‑management tools (Ansible/Chef).
• Experience with SDLC frameworks (Agile, Scrum).
• Relevant skills in risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital technology.
