Your role and responsibilities

This is a technical support role underpinning the Adult Social Care and Public Health & Communities & Public Safety directorates. As such, you will need to be a strong communicator with solid, demonstrable troubleshooting abilities. Knowledge of the ITIL best practice framework, coupled with a proven background in supporting line of business applications and associated technologies.

  • On a daily basis you will provide Business as Usual (BAU) support to key business applications supporting stakeholders of all levels.
  • Progressing support calls and keeping the end user updated.
  • You’ll be collaborating with other IT colleagues in different departments to resolve issues and find/implement solutions.
  • You may be required to use your extensive skills implementing new solutions guided by the Project Team.

Although the role is mainly BAU support, both Suffolk County Council and IT are fast changing environments so there are always opportunities to collaborate with the wider teams implementing new technologies.

You will need

  • to be an adaptable communicator with excellent customer service skills with the ability to focus on the issue in hand while under pressure
  • experience working in an operational support role with line of business systems and databases
  • experience of using varying technologies or applications including the Microsoft suite
  • to be both resourceful and resilient during times of fast paced change while keeping in line with established policies and processes.

It would be desirable to have previous experience of LiquidLogic and packaging in Systems Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM), but by no means essential as training will be given.

The team

The IT Service, as part of the Corporate Services directorate, provides and supports Suffolk County Council’s technology requirements. You will be working alongside experts in network, server, storage, applications, devices, cyber security and first line support. The IT Service supports colleagues across the organisation to get the most from their technology provision within a flexible working environment. We work from Endeavour House in Ipswich and the expectation is that you’ll be in the office at least 2 days per week.
