Overview

As a Seals Project Engineer, you will play a central role in the development of our next generation of vehicles, leading the design, delivery and performance of sealing systems from concept through to production. Working at the heart of Body Engineering, you will be responsible for ensuring your commodities achieve demanding targets for quality, cost, timing and functional performance while collaborating with designers, suppliers, manufacturing teams and programme stakeholders across the business. This role is for someone who enjoys ownership. You will lead engineering releases, drive commodity strategies, manage critical interfaces and take responsibility for ensuring sealing systems meet performance requirements through simulation and physical validation.

From supporting early concept development through to resolving complex build and launch concerns, you will be a key technical voice throughout the vehicle development cycle. You will coordinate suppliers and internal teams, lead design and assembly reviews, manage failure prevention activities including DFMEA and lessons learned processes, and ensure robust engineering solutions are delivered on time. You will also support manufacturing feasibility, drive root cause investigations, develop engineering specifications and provide technical direction across both internal and external CAD resources.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering releases and commodity strategies
  • Manage critical interfaces and collaborate with cross‑functional teams
  • Ensure sealing systems meet performance requirements through simulation and physical testing
  • Coordinate suppliers, lead design and assembly reviews
  • Manage DFMEA, lessons learned and failure prevention activities
  • Support manufacturing feasibility and root cause investigations
  • Develop engineering specifications and provide technical direction across CAD resources

Qualifications

  • Significant experience within sealing systems engineering, ideally within the automotive sector
  • Comfortable operating in fast‑paced pre‑production and launch environments
  • Strong understanding of sealing design, manufacturing techniques and relevant legislation
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Experience with Failure Mode Avoidance methodologies highly desirable
  • Knowledge of NX and AML AMPCS processes an advantage
  • Proactive problem‑solving approach, learns quickly and thrives when balancing multiple priorities and challenging deadlines
