The Role

As an Accounts Semi-Senior or Senior, you’ll be responsible for supporting a diverse client base, ranging from owner-managed businesses to growing SMEs. Depending on your level of experience, you’ll take ownership of your own portfolio while working alongside Managers and Partners to deliver a high-quality service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.
  • Producing corporation tax returns, VAT returns and, where required, personal tax returns.
  • Assisting clients with bookkeeping and cloud accounting software queries.
  • Building strong relationships with clients and becoming a trusted point of contact.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and add value to clients’ businesses.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure assignments are delivered accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate.
  • Keeping technical knowledge up to date through ongoing training and professional development.

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Current or recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
  • ACA or ACCA qualification, or be actively studying towards either qualification (qualified by experience candidates will also be considered).
  • Experience preparing accounts for a range of business entities.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software, with cloud accounting experience beneficial.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive and personable approach, with the confidence to build lasting client relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Exposure to payroll or company secretarial work would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Salary of approximately £30,000 – £45,000, depending on experience and qualification level.
  • Study support for ACA or ACCA where applicable.
