We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and methodical manager to join us in the Technical Accounting team within the CFO Division. The team is responsible for all technical accounting matters for Santander businesses in the UK.
Your role will include monitoring accounting developments in IFRS and SEC reporting, assessing their impact on all Santander businesses in the UK, communicating this to relevant stakeholders, liaising with other areas of Finance on all technical accounting aspects of IFRS implementations and providing advice to all Santander businesses in the UK in respect of products, services and corporate transactions. You will also provide technical input and support in connection with the preparation of the relevant annual, half-yearly and quarterly financial reports for Santander UK Group Holdings plc and Santander UK plc.
Responsibilities
- Monitor developments in IFRS and SEC reporting requirements, including meetings of the International Accounting Standards Board and IFRS Interpretations Committee, and draft comment letters where appropriate.
- Provide support, as required, with the review of technical materials for external bodies.
- Draft technical disclosures for statutory reports and prepare IFRS and SEC disclosure checklists, taking principal responsibility for accounting policies and guidance.
- Provide IFRS technical accounting advice and support to the business, including the preparation of detailed analyses of technical accounting issues.
- Monitor accounting developments in IFRS and SEC reporting, assess their impact on all Santander businesses in the UK, and communicate this to relevant stakeholders.
- Liaise with other areas of Finance on all technical accounting aspects of IFRS implementations.
- Provide technical input and support in connection with the preparation of annual, half-yearly, and quarterly financial reports for Santander UK Group Holdings plc and Santander UK plc.
Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with experience working within the UK public company reporting environment (required).
- Strong IFRS technical accounting experience, including practical exposure to IFRS in terms of preparation/presentation of complex statutory accounts and technical interpretations (required).
- Experience of financial services and/or SEC requirements desirable.
- Attention to detail (required).
- Ability to communicate effectively (required).
- Problem‑solving skills (required).

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: £53,500.00 – £80,250.00 per annum (depending on experience).
- Annual salary based on a standard 35‑hour working week.
- 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, increasing to 31 days after 5 years of service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
