Job Description:

As a Financial Analyst Senior – 19486BR based in Havant, you will support strategic decision-making through financial planning, analysis, and forecasting for a leading systems integrator. This contract role offers a salary between £37,000 and £54,000 per annum, plus flexible working, pension, holidays, and sick pay.

Responsibilities

  • Manage programme budget baseline using standard templates, updating the baseline as new programme components are scoped.
  • Monitor spend and the forecasted Estimate at Completion (EAC), reviewing actuals, calculating variances, flagging anomalies that require escalation, and identifying solutions to complex level issues.
  • Support the monthly risk‑management process, highlighting and managing financial risk.
  • Generate forecasts for sales, EBIT and cash on a monthly basis using advanced techniques including scenario analysis, sensitivity mapping, and providing monthly variance analysis.
  • Support the Long Range Planning cycle.
  • Verify that business controls and processes are being followed, ensuring audit trails to maintain the integrity of the financial data, and support the annual audit.
  • Provide financial management expertise to the Programme Management Team, answer queries, help with pre‑planning of programme activities, and document assumptions.
  • Attend and present the financial position at Internal Programme Reviews, Monthly Programme Reviews and Contract Status Reviews, presenting data to varying levels of seniority.
  • Respond to ad‑hoc reporting or analysis requests from senior leadership or the Programme Management Office, identify areas for improvement, and manage change initiatives to evolve the function.
  • Act as the finance lead for Programme Managers, provide financial guidance and challenge where required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Commercial acumen and a highly analytical mindset.
  • Strong financial planning, analysis, and forecasting skills.
  • Experience managing programme budgets, tracking spend, and explaining variances.
  • Ability to support risk management and audit processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to present to senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of defence and civil sectors desirable.
