Overview

Consultant in Emergency Medicine (fixed term 12 months, commencing August 2026) joining NHS Tayside’s Emergency Medicine service which sees 85,000 new patients per annum across Tayside and North East Fife.

Position

The consultant team play an active role in resuscitating, reviewing and redirecting appropriate patients. The consultant will be part of a proactive team of 22 (20 WTE) Emergency Medicine Consultants, contributing to the unscheduled care system, pre‑hospital primary retrieval work, and the East Region Major Trauma Centre at Ninewells Hospital.

Key responsibilities include resuscitation, patient review, patient redirection, support for direct GP admissions, and participation in undergraduate and postgraduate education, audit, research and quality improvement activities.

Location

Base at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee and Perth Royal Infirmary.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or already in possession of CESR at date of interview.
