Overview

This senior clinical fellow post (ST5+ equivalent) is based within the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, which has one of the largest paediatric orthopaedic units in the country and is the regional Paediatric Major Trauma Centre for South West England. This post is a 12 month appointment, suitable for those interested in Paediatric Orthopaedics. The post holder will be required to take part in clinics and operating lists at the Bristol Children’s Hospital and on occasion other centres in the South west. They will be expected to participate in departmental audit and research and have a role in teaching and supporting the junior members of the team. There is an on call commitment on our middle grade rota.

Responsibilities

  • Take part in clinics and operating lists at the Bristol Children’s Hospital and occasionally at other centres in the South West.
  • Participate in departmental audit and research and support the teaching of junior team members.
  • Commit to on‑call duties on the middle grade rota.
  • Provide day‑to‑day care of paediatric orthopaedic inpatients, including emergency and elective admissions.

Team & Training

The appointee will join a dynamic team of ten consultants, six registrars and three junior fellows, gaining experience across all aspects of paediatric orthopaedics. Patient experience will include complex conditions such as developmental hip dysplasia, complex foot deformities, neuromuscular conditions, skeletal dysplasias and complex limb deformities, with specialist and fracture clinics running daily.

Qualifications

Applicants should be suitable for an ST5+ equivalent role and possess the required clinical and teaching competencies for paediatric orthopaedics.
