About the Role
This is a rewarding opportunity to lead and shape outstanding pastoral provision, supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs to thrive. As Pastoral Support Manager, you will be part of the extended leadership team and will play a pivotal role in removing barriers to learning, driving inclusion, and ensuring all students can achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Lead a dedicated team to deliver impactful interventions, promote positive behaviour, and champion the wellbeing and life chances of every student.
- Coordinate and deliver high-quality pastoral support across the academy, including planning and managing interventions and resources for vulnerable students.
- Line manage pastoral staff and work closely with safeguarding, SEND and teaching teams.
- Liaise with external agencies to ensure effective support is in place.
- Monitor and evaluate interventions, oversee alternative provision and contribute to academy improvement strategies.
- Support attendance, behaviour and safeguarding processes to ensure students are fully supported in achieving academic and personal success.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification or significant experience in behaviour support, SEND or pastoral work.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and current education legislation.
- Proven experience working with young people, particularly those with social, emotional and mental health needs, ideally within a secondary school setting.
- Experience of multi‑agency working and developing effective partnerships with families, external services and education professionals.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience of leading teams, driving improvement and delivering whole‑school initiatives.
- Ability to analyse complex situations, use data effectively and implement strategies that improve student outcomes and engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build positive, professional relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
- High levels of organisation, resilience and emotional intelligence, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
