Job Overview
The Failsafe officer is responsible for the management of the overdue follow‑up waiting list within Ophthalmology and ensuring all patients have appointments within agreed timeframes. When this is not possible, the role escalates overdue patients for clinical review, monitors waiting times and overdue dates, ensures reviews occur and inputs failsafe review information into the Trust system (Epic). The Failsafe officer ensures patients are not lost to follow‑up.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the overdue follow‑up waiting list within Ophthalmology.
- Ensure all patients have appointments within agreed timeframes.
- Escalate overdue patients for clinical review when necessary.
- Monitor patient waiting times and overdue dates.
- Ensure clinical reviews take place for all overdue patients.
- Input failsafe review information into Epic.
- Ensure patients are not lost to follow‑up.
