Job Description:

Our busy CYP Daycare and Outpatients sees over 6000 patients a year, requiring systemic anti‑cancer therapy, radiotherapy, and supportive care delivered by our team. The age range of our patients is 1 to 24 years old, making CYPDU a unique unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital. If you want to gain experience in cancer care delivery and SACT administration, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for Child Registered Nurse candidates who are driven and passionate about bringing ideas forward and leading projects to improve the patient journey through the service. A qualification in oncology or a related speciality is an essential requirement for a Band 6 position. The successful candidate will take an active role in unit leadership, managing the service in line with trust values and improvement initiatives, and will demonstrate exceptional communication skills and positive role‑modeling to support the development of the team and both pre‑ and post‑registration placements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence‑based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way, in conjunction with the shift coordinator.
  • Develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the unit.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of managing a shift with the guidance of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
