Apprentice Clinical Associate Psychologist (Band 5, 1.0 WTE – 37.5 hours)

AWP NHS Trust Specialised Services operates the Gambling Service for the South West of England. This role delivers specialist psychological interventions to individuals seeking help for gambling and supports their families and significant others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist psychological interventions to clients seeking help for gambling.
  • Complete the Masters Programme in Clinical Associate in Psychology at the University of Bath (18 months, starting September 2026).
  • Progress to a Band 6 Clinical Associate Psychologist role upon qualification.
  • Work remotely with periodic attendance at the University, local face‑to‑face appointments across the South West, monthly in‑person team meetings, and provide at least one evening clinical session per week.
  • Carry out specialised psychological assessments, treatments and other relevant clinical interventions with individuals and groups of service users.
  • Attend structured learning activities, including personal study, academic work, placement learning and assessments that lead to an MSc in Clinical Associate Psychology.
  • Receive regular supervision by a qualified Clinical Psychologist to meet competency standards and complete the MSc course and endpoint assessment.
  • Develop the ability to work independently under supervision and be prepared for independent practice when competent.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Commitment to becoming a Clinical Associate Psychologist and providing care to people experiencing gambling harms.
  • Must possess the legal right to work in the UK; no Skilled Worker visa sponsorship available.
  • Adherence to the BPS Code of Conduct and NHS Code of Practice for employers.
