We are recruiting for a Technical Assurance Requirements Engineer to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project at the initial design phase. The role operates under a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance structure, managing interfaces and resolving program conflicts to achieve shared goals for cost and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Technical Assurance Requirements Engineer will apply the processes and procedures identified in the FBRS Requirements and Assurance Management Plan (RAMP) to help deliver technical self‑assurance at each HS2 Technical Lifecycle Stage.
  • Assist the maintenance of the Contractor’s Technical Requirements Baseline, capturing all input requirements necessary to ensure the design aligns with Works Information, applicable standards, statutory obligations, etc. Identify and decompose new and existing requirements.
  • Aid in the elicitation of systems and subsystems requirements during design development and assurance.
  • Ensure that sound engineering and V&V produce evidence that assures stakeholders the project is on track and will deliver what has been requested.
  • Ensure progressive assurance evidence is delivered through each project lifecycle, using Progressive Assurance to mitigate the risk of protracted approval delays.
  • Assist with progress reviews, tracking and reporting of assured deliverables and associated certification to meet programme milestones.
  • Assist with the assessment of Technical Assurance readiness to proceed to interdisciplinary design reviews and project lifecycle stage gates.
  • Assist with the presentation of stage gate assurance packs for Level 3 lifecycle stage gate FBRS/HS2 acceptance panels.

Key Skills And Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
  • Chartered IMEC, PWA Institute or CEng ICE desirable.
  • Experience in major multi‑disciplinary rail projects, particularly high‑speed railway, design‑and‑build, and UK projects.
  • Proficiency in Requirements Management.
  • Proficiency in IBM Rational DOORS.
  • Previous experience in a similar role with aligned responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Strong communication skills with a positive and collaborative approach.
  • Enthusiastic team player, able to listen, understand and engage.
