AI Research Engineer

Company: PostHog Enterprise
Apply for the AI Research Engineer
Location: London
Job Description:

Product development used to mean manually writing code, running analysis, diagnosing bugs, and rolling out changes using dozens of tools.

PostHog is the only platform that acts like a co-pilot for you (and your AI agents) to do it all – autonomously.

PostHog Code, the only AI devtool that understands your product, not just your codebase.

PostHog AI, an AI-powered analyst that answers product questions, helps users find useful session recordings, and writes custom SQL queries.

Who we’re looking for

PostHog is working on a self-driving product and is training its own Deep ML models. This new AI Research team needs an AI Research Engineer who can work with our large data set, develop models, and ship production‑ready solutions.

What you’ll be doing

You will be part of a team that researches emerging techniques and brings them into production. Your focus areas include:

  • Session replay analysis – improving detection of issues in replays with scalable, efficient models.
  • User behavior prediction – identifying drop‑offs, suggesting improvements, and boosting conversion rates automatically.
  • Synthetic user testing – simulating users to catch confusing flows or breakages before release.

Job Requirements

  • PhD is a plus; a strong background in mathematics is required.
  • Alternatively, experience training models with strong math skills.
  • Strong coding ability in Rust (preferred), CUDA, or C.
  • Solid understanding of transformer architectures.
  • A product mindset; you’ll build production‑ready products.
  • Hybrid Remote with the London Office.

What we’re not looking for

  • Pure theoretical expertise – this is not a Jupyter notebook job.
  • Someone who only wants to research and publish; shipping has priority.
