As a result, alongside several consortium partners, Balfour Beatty has been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster. Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Instrument Project/Field Engineer to contribute to our Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

Role Purpose

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering designs and technical specifications. Production of controlling documentation required to carry out works associated with the discipline. Responsible for assisting engineering teams with design, development, data collection, and system testing, operating under the guidance of Senior Engineers and Project/Construction Managers. To meet customer specifications (safety, quality, time, etc.) such that all risk, specification and project objectives are met in full.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the successful completion of the section of works and lead by example.
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of construction projects.
  • Ensure site records are accurately maintained and available.
  • Ensure all team members are fully inducted and carry out role-specific requirements, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor short-term programmes.
  • Maintain accurate progress records.
  • Deliver regular Toolbox Talks and positively engage the team.
  • Monitor budget, cost control and cost recovery to keep expenditure in line with contract budget and efficient resource utilisation.
  • Live Balfour Beatty Values and maintain relentless focus on Zero Harm.
  • Support delivery of Project Sustainability activities.
  • Responsible for safety and welfare of general public, staff and supply chain within area of control, following safety policy and local HSE.
  • Support accident/incident investigations, identify and implement improvement options and lead action as appropriate.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and cascade
