Role Overview

Our client, an international aerospace company working in the defence sector, is looking for an experienced Product Review Engineer to join on a contract basis.

This role suits a proactive individual who can make engineering decisions that go beyond their desk and into the factory/hangar regularly. The position is for a Mechanical and/or Avionic/Electrical Product Review Engineer with experience in product review or as an experienced Part 21 Engineer. It reports to the Design & Production Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply client’s design engineering principles to research technical, operational and quality issues and design interim and final engineering solutions.
  • Use knowledge of client’s design and/or engineering principles to develop interim or final engineering solutions for product/process issues throughout production or for issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
  • Analyse, conduct failure analysis, root‑cause analysis and troubleshoot to understand root causes; provide assistance and engineering support to identify solutions.
  • Provide written dispositions for design non‑conformances and support activities to identify deviations that could impact design intent, safety and product/process improvements.
  • Develop customer correspondence for safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Develop and implement product/process improvements.
  • Represent the engineering community in the post‑production environment.
  • Ensure suppliers and build partners comply with client standards & processes.
  • Design interim structural repairs and conduct static strength analysis.
  • Develop non‑destructive test procedures and conduct simple static strength analysis.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems, developing solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organizational objectives, processes and standards.
  • Work independently, determine and develop approaches to solutions; receive general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Aircraft systems knowledge.
  • High level of attention to detail and professional integrity.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and show flexibility to changing situations / demands.
  • Computer skills and proficiency with MS Office, including MS Word and MS Excel.

Preferred

  • Aircraft maintenance and/or operations knowledge.
  • Experience with major repairs / experience as an experienced Part 21 Engineer.
  • Ability to plan work and use meaningful metrics to evaluate project status and provide performance visibility.
  • Prior experience in aircraft fleet maintenance.
