The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Service & Small Works Engineer to join a well-established and growing fire and security business covering Reading, West London, and the surrounding areas. This is a field-based role responsible for the servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and small works installation of fire alarm systems across a variety of commercial, healthcare, education, and public sector sites. The successful candidate will be joining a supportive team with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fire safety solutions and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on fire alarm systems.
- Diagnose and rectify faults on a range of fire detection and alarm systems.
- Complete small works installations, modifications, and upgrades.
- Commission fire alarm systems where required.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant British Standards and company procedures.
- Produce accurate service reports and documentation.
- Provide technical advice and support to customers on-site.
- Participate in an on-call rota when required.

Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Fire Alarm Service Engineer, Fire Alarm Installation Engineer, Fire & Security Engineer, or similar.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Good understanding of BS 5839 standards.
- Experience carrying out both service and small works activities.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- FIA, Zzeus (or similar) training would be advantageous, but training can be provided post-probation.
