Overview
They are seeking a highly organised and proactive Operations Manager to manage day-to-day administrative, production, and operational activities within a manufacturing site. This is a varied, hands‑on role combining office administration, production planning, health & safety coordination, and factory support to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The role is fully on‑site. You will work closely with production, accounts, payroll, and senior management and report day‑to‑day to directors and support staff based in Milton Keynes. During the first 3 months, the focus will be a blend of office administration and production / H&S operations.
Responsibilities
- Office & Factory Administration – Manage production schedules and job sheets; maintain staff holiday records, wage and hours sheets; coordinate with accounts and payroll teams; support HR administration and staff welfare initiatives; oversee office standards, maintenance, cleanliness and safety; manage supplier contracts and vendor relationships; ensure compliance with company policies and confidentiality.
- Production Planning & Operations – Plan, organise and monitor production schedules; coordinate raw materials and paper purchasing; monitor workflow to meet production targets; support and collaborate with production planning; identify efficiency improvements and waste reduction opportunities; coordinate machinery servicing and maintenance.
- Quality, Compliance & Health & Safety – Take full responsibility for FSC audits, including preparation and execution; maintain quality standards across production output; maintain H&S documentation, risk assessments and training records; liaise with external H&S consultant; promote a safe and compliant working environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, factory or production environment.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Experience coordinating production schedules or production planning.
- Working knowledge of Excel and Sage.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance requirements.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail and confidentiality.
