Engineering Estimator

Location: NottinghamEmployment: PermanentPay: Up to £45,000 per annum

EMBS Engineering is recruiting a skilled Engineering Estimator / Technical Engineer for a precision engineering company in North Nottinghamshire. All candidates must be UK residents; a DBS check will be required and visa sponsorship is not available.

This role is suitable for professionals currently working as Technical Sales Engineer, Applications Engineer, Engineering Estimator, Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Development Engineer or similar customer‑facing technical roles within precision engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Pre‑sales consultation, providing technical assistance and supporting customers through the full commercial cycle
  • Creation and supply of quotations, ensuring contracts are feasible to manufacture and profitable
  • Processing sales orders for new and existing products
  • Building and managing ongoing relationships with clients across Energy, Nuclear, Aerospace and Defence sectors
  • Providing feedback on market trends to support business planning
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Creating BOMs, basic routings and calculating manufacturing and cutting times
  • Using MRP/ERP systems
  • Understanding client specifications, including material requirements, quality standards, traceability, assembly procedures and testing
  • Awareness of special processes such as heat treatment, NDT and anodising
  • Ensuring excellent after‑sales service and maintaining quality standards

Requirements

  • Experience working with complex precision‑engineered parts within sectors such as Aerospace, Nuclear, Defence, Motorsport, Oil & Gas, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes with the ability to calculate cycle times
  • Ability to define methods of manufacture from engineering drawings
  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems
  • Commercial negotiation and reasoning skills
  • Understanding of materials, basic metallurgy and manufacturing processes
  • Awareness of ISO9001 / AS9100 quality standards
