About the Role

As an HR Consultant, you will join a small, experienced and open-minded team, providing clear, practical and commercially focused HR advice to a loyal client base.

No two days are the same. One moment, you may be advising on a complex disciplinary issue; the next, calculating annual leave entitlement and supporting a client through redundancy, restructuring or a sensitive employee relations matter. You will need sound judgement, confidence and the ability to apply employment law in a way that works for the client’s business.

You will:

  • Manage a varied caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence and whistleblowing matters
  • Advise on contracts, handbooks, policies, restructuring and organisational change
  • Help employers apply employment law with commercial confidence
  • Build strong relationships with clients
  • Provide advice by telephone, email, Teams and very occasional on-site visits (within a reasonable distance).
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, contracts, policies and client documentation
  • Support client onboarding and contribute to the continued growth of the business
  • Keep your employment law and HR best-practice knowledge up to date
  • Represent Metis HR as a trusted, professional adviser

Candidates must have a permanent right to work in the UK and live within a commutable distance of Bacup. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available.

About You

You will bring:

  • HR experience and/or qualifications, with a strong understanding of employment law
  • Sound judgement and the confidence to make practical decisions
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to see the bigger business picture
  • Curiosity, diplomacy and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A positive attitude and good sense of humour

This role will suit someone who enjoys variety, autonomy and direct client relationships. It is ideal for an HR professional who wants to be a trusted adviser, rather than an administrator of process.

The Offer
