Aspiring English Teacher Program – £24,066 Permanent Contract

EdEx are pleased to announce that we are now representing a Trust of Schools located across both London & Hertfordshire. We have been tasked with finding aspiring teachers across all subjects through both salaried and unsalaried teaching routes.

Key points about the scheme

  • Paid position on the Unqualified Teacher (UQT) scale (most commonly UQ1)
  • Employed directly by a school from day one
  • Higher initial teaching load of around 15 periods per week, gradually increasing to approximately 20 periods per week
  • One dedicated training day per week
  • Opportunity to gain QTS with PGCE (optional opt‑out available if required)
  • Working at one school throughout, avoiding any conflict in different teaching styles

One of the schools is now looking for an Aspiring English Teacher to join their Secondary School this September 2026. This is a full‑time, term‑time only position with the school employing you directly.

Job Description

  • Teach across the English Department, supporting KS3‑4 lessons with a focus on attainment and quality of learning
  • Carry out GCSE and A Level interventions
  • Enroll onto the Aspiring English Teacher Program (Schools Direct)
  • Start date: September 2026 – Full time & Permanent
  • Salary range: £24 066 – £36 718
  • Location: Stevenage

Personal Specification

  • Desirable degree in one of the following subjects from a reputable university: English, English Literature, English Language, English Language and Literature, English Studies, Creative Writing, English and Creative Writing, English Literature and Creative Writing, English Language and Linguistics, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, TESOL / English Language Teaching, English Education, Education Studies and English, English and Drama, English Literature and Drama, English and Theatre Studies, English and Film Studies, English and Media, English and Journalism, Journalism / Media and Communications
  • Good A Levels & GCSEs across the board
  • Confidence in GCSE & A Level curriculum and ability to engage and motivate students
  • Commitment and ambition to succeed
