Solicitor or Equivalent (Clinical Negligence Grade A)

Location: Birmingham/Hybrid

Hybrid working available – with the flexibility to work from home and collaborate in‑office when needed.

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor ready to take the next step in your career. As a Senior Solicitor, you’ll enjoy a high level of autonomy, handling complex cases from start to finish. Your role will involve proactive, commercially focused case management, regular correspondence with clients, medical experts, and stakeholders, and driving successful outcomes while contributing to the team’s success and culture.

Main Responsibilities

Accountable for

  • Providing support, guidance and assistance to the team to deliver outstanding service to customers
  • Proactive and commercial case management and progression
  • Supporting the Team Leader in ensuring the delivery of the team’s financial performance KPIs
  • Effective and thorough time recording

Responsible For

  • Discussing and agreeing case tactics and planning with the Team Leader and members of the team
  • Identifying cases which are ready for LOC, settlement and service within the team
  • Working with the team to ensure relevant information is collected and collated to enable case progression
  • Managing a caseload in a proactive commercial manner
  • Co‑ordinating the progression of cases with all internal and external parties
  • Drafting legal documentation including LOC and letters of instruction
  • Negotiating settlement and issuing and servicing proceedings if required
  • Overseeing documentation and correspondence produced by the team
  • Advising the team on technical issues arising from the practice

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Recent experience of handling a case load
  • 8+ years PQE or equivalent experience in Clinical Negligence
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills
  • Excellent IT skills, especially Microsoft Office, Proclaim and Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong commercial awareness within a legal environment
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior team members
  • Flexible and willing to commit to achieving results and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent client care skills
