TE Connectivity’s Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gathering quotations, examining bids, and awarding contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability, and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost‑saving proposals including make‑vs‑buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.
What You Will Do
- Trade commodity purchasing for Electronics, cable, ceramics and consumable items.
- Daily and weekly orderbook management for all responsible lines, highlighting any late deliveries.
- Ensure supplier delivery on time.
- Raise new purchase orders, handle pricing enquiries, and enter order confirmations.
- Review late lines, take action, and inform the relevant planner.
- Manage suppliers and orderbook, building excellent supplier relationships.
- Escalate any issues to the purchasing supervisor or relevant sourcing analyst.
- Manage master data – update and maintain master data for responsible items, MOQ’s, price breaks, safety stocks.
- Manage and report KPI targets – delivery on time, confirmation of purchase orders.
- Process invoices, resolve blocked invoices, and amend purchase orders.
- Handle MRP exception management.
Your Ideal Background
- Educated to GCSE level.
- Previous buyer experience.
- Strong IT skills including SAP and relevant MRP experience; Excel would be advantageous.
- Proactive, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload in line with demanding business requirements, achieving expedited turnarounds with suppliers when required.
- Capability to think creatively and logically and work in detail without supervision.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
