Salary: Grade 4, £20,723 – £21,729 per annum (£13.26 – £13.90 per hour)
Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm) term time plus 1 week, 39 weeks per year.

RL Hughes Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated Administration Officer to join our dedicated team.
35hrs per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4pm, term time plus 1 week.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the day to day running of a very busy school office during a period of significant growth and development. We are particularly excited to be preparing for our move into a brand-new school building in May 2027, creating a modern learning environment for our pupils, staff and wider community.
Working closely with the School Business Manager and the Headteacher, you will provide high quality financial and administrative support, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the school. The school office is an extremely busy and fast‑paced environment; therefore you must have the ability to self‑manage, prioritise and multi‑task whilst remaining calm, committed, friendly and approachable.
Responsibilities
- Act as a welcoming first point of contact.
- Respond professionally to telephone, email and face‑to‑face enquiries.
- Manage visitor sign‑in procedures and ensure safeguarding requirements are followed.
- Maintain up‑to‑date pupil records.
- Manage daily pupil attendance procedures, making first‑day absence calls to parents and carers.
- Organise school visits.
- Coordinate the nursery admissions process.
- Manage holiday requests from parents and monitor holidays taken in term time and issue EPN as required.
- Undertake general reception/administration duties and financial tasks, including school meals.
- Undertake communication with parents via school messaging service.
- Assist with pupil first aid/medication as necessary.
- Assist with financial duties as required, including collection and banking of monies.
- Organise music lessons and other ad‑hoc duties.
