Deputy Manager

Location: Stoke on Trent, ST3

Shift pattern: Various shift patterns, dependent on requirements.

Salary: £33,000 – £35,000 per annum.

My client is a well‑known Children’s Residential Care Company, renowned in the sector. The home has been rated as GOOD by Ofsted and works closely with local authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Support and work alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the home meets the requirements of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and the Quality Care Standards.
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the Stoke on Trent home.
  • Provide direct supervision and support of the residential team.
  • Oversee and support the development of staff and young people in placement.
  • Update placement plans and risk assessments.
  • Work in partnership with local authorities, schools and families to support the young person.
  • Ensure the home provides a safe and sensitive environment for young people.
  • Promote education and ensure each child’s attendance is maintained.
  • Ensure the specific needs of the young people are met, including religious observance, cultural needs, dietary requirements and medical conditions and treatments.

Ideal Candidate

  • Passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people in care.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in residential care of children.
  • Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care (essential).
  • Understanding of Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Efficiency in planning, organising, budget control, resource allocation and team leadership.
  • Confidence in effective verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, including managing challenging behaviour.
  • Full UK manual driver’s licence.
