An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Process Manager to lead and optimise vacuum heat treatment operations within a specialist manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a technically driven professional with a strong background in heat treatment, metallurgy, materials science, or engineering who is passionate about process excellence, quality, and continuous improvement.

As Process Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of vacuum heat treatment processes while maintaining the highest standards of quality and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily vacuum heat treatment operations to ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Establish, monitor, and optimise process parameters to maximise efficiency and product quality.
  • Supervise furnace cycles and support equipment performance and reliability.
  • Investigate and resolve process deviations, technical challenges, and quality concerns.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Provide technical support for customer enquiries and quotation activities.
  • Collaborate closely with production, quality, maintenance, and commercial teams.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework, and process variation.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems and customer requirements.
  • Train, coach, and develop operators and technical personnel.
  • Monitor process performance through data analysis and reporting.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

About You

The successful candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to process improvement.

  • Proven experience within heat treatment, metallurgy, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, root cause analysis, and process control techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading teams and driving operational performance.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest health and safety standards.
  • Experience with industrial furnaces, vacuum heat treatment systems, or thermal processing technologies.
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing or engineering sectors.
