Overview
We currently have an opportunity for a Project Controls Assistant to join our growing engineering team in York. This position within our team will suit a committed and ambitious person who can demonstrate interpersonal skills combined with mathematical knowledge and the ability to play their part in a growing dynamic high-performance team. With a focus on the Design of the UK Rail Infrastructure they will also in experience overseas interaction, the post‑holder will be part of a growing team of UK team delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of UK clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the team in delivering project controls on projects, ensuring structured Primavera programme reporting.
- Issue performance reporting documents in a timely manner.
- Maintain an organised approach to record keeping.
- Ensure robust, accurate reporting both internally and externally.
- Build and maintain good relationships with all external parties to enhance the company’s reputation.
- Work on large multi-disciplinary rail projects.
- Apply recognised project controls techniques.
- Build relationships with Work Package Managers to ensure they understand the process, the reports content and are actively engaged with progress reporting and management of changes and variations.
- Work closely with the Project Commercial/Cost Engineering leads to capture and vary approved changes and/or variations into the approved project budgets.
- Chair progress meetings and communicate clear and concise data to the Project team and the Client.
- Update all Work Package Management Agreements and their associated change sheets monthly.
- Attend Work Package Reviews and record the meeting minutes and all actions.
- Support the project controls team with all objectives and extensive use of Microsoft products.
Essential Skills
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Working knowledge of all PC‑based Windows environments and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to produce programmes and associated reports.
- Working knowledge of Primavera.
Desirable Skills
- Good command of written and spoken French.
- Experience with a variety of software platforms (e.g., Primavera).
- Interest in working with international colleagues of different technical cultures or on overseas projects.
- Knowledge of multi‑disciplinary coordination across major infrastructure projects and global design teams.
- Understanding of writing processes and procedures.
