Contract Opportunity

Placr Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a beautiful luxury boutique hotel near Ponyings, West Sussex, home to an acclaimed AA Rosette restaurant.

We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join the team on a fixed-term contract from 6th August until 20th September. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a high-quality kitchen during one of the busiest periods of the year, preparing exceptional seasonal dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

The Role

Working alongside the Head Chef and talented kitchen brigade, you will help deliver an outstanding dining experience for hotel guests and restaurant visitors while maintaining the exceptional standards expected of an AA Rosette establishment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Prepare and present dishes to AA Rosette standards.
  • Support service across lunch, dinner and hotel functions.
  • Supervise and support junior chefs during service.
  • Ensure all food hygiene, HACCP and health & safety standards are maintained.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering and minimising waste.
  • Help maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.

About You

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an experienced Junior Sous Chef.
  • Experience working within quality hotel or AA Rosette-standard kitchens is highly desirable.
  • Passion for producing exceptional food using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
  • Calm under pressure with excellent organisational skills.
  • Reliable, flexible and able to commit to the full contract period.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Own transport is advantageous due to the hotel’s rural location.
