Your new company An established organisation within the education sector is seeking to appoint a Research and Policy Officer to join its Marketing, Research and Communications team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to strategic policy development, research projects and public affairs activity that supports the organisation’s objectives and the wider education sector.

Your new role As Research and Policy Officer, you will play a key role in monitoring and analysing policy, legislative and educational developments, ensuring the organisation remains informed of issues impacting the sector. You will work closely with senior leadership to support the development and delivery of research and policy objectives, helping to shape evidence-based responses and strategic initiatives.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring policy, legislative and sector developments and advising on potential implications.
  • Researching, analysing and preparing reports, consultation responses, briefings, factsheets and stakeholder communications.
  • Supporting the delivery of research and policy projects aligned to organisational objectives.
  • Providing advice and support to colleagues on education policy matters.
  • Designing and undertaking surveys, including data collection, analysis and reporting of findings.
  • Assisting with the organisation of events and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Developing and maintaining stakeholder mapping and engagement records.
  • Supporting consultation processes and providing updates on key developments affecting the sector.

What you’ll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience in a research, policy, public affairs or related role.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports, consultation responses and briefing papers.
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience gathering, interpreting and presenting data and survey findings.
  • The ability to monitor and evaluate legislative, policy and regulatory developments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and senior stakeholders.
