Field Service Engineer

Company: Trident Recruitment Ltd
Apply for the Field Service Engineer
Location: Scotland
Job Description:

Field Service Engineer Landfill Gas / Power GenerationLocation: ScotlandSalary: £45,000 + Van + Fuel CardMultiple Positions Available

A growing power generation business is looking to hire multiple Field Service Engineers across Scotland due to continued expansion in the region.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer from a power generation, landfill gas, CHP, generator, controls or electrical maintenance background to join a company that operates its own sites. Unlike many field service roles, you will not be dealing with external customers or moving between client-owned assets. The landfill gas sites are owned and operated by the business, giving you a more consistent working environment and a stronger sense of ownership over the equipment you support.

The role would suit an engineer who enjoys technical fault finding and hands-on maintenance, but who is also looking for a better work/life balance than a traditional reactive field service position. Overtime is managed sensibly and paid back as time in lieu, helping engineers maintain a healthy balance while still supporting critical power assets.

Call-out support is also highly manageable. In most cases, issues can be diagnosed and resolved remotely from a laptop at home, meaning call-outs rarely require engineers to immediately travel to site during unsociable hours.

The Role

You will be responsible for the service, maintenance, fault finding and operational support of landfill gas power generation assets across Scotland.

Duties will include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on landfill gas generation sites
  • Fault finding on engines, generators, control systems and associated plant
  • Supporting remote diagnostics and resolving issues via laptop where possible
  • Attending site when required for hands-on repairs, inspections and maintenance
  • Working on company-operated assets with no external customer-facing requirement
  • Completing service reports and maintaining accurate maintenance records
  • Supporting safe, reliable and efficient site performance
  • Working closely with internal operations, engineering and technical teams

The Candidate

This role would suit an engineer with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Landfill gas engines
  • Gas or diesel generators
  • CHP systems
  • Power generation
  • Electrical field service
  • Mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • Controls, PLCs or SCADA
  • Industrial plant or rotating equipment

You should be confident with fault finding, comfortable working independently, and interested in joining a growing business with long-term opportunities across Scotland.

Whats on Offer

  • £45,000 basic salary
  • Company van
  • Fuel card
  • Time off in lieu for overtime
  • Remote-first call-out support where possible
  • Company-operated landfill gas sites
  • No external customer-facing service work
  • Multiple hires due to regional expansion
  • Strong work/life balance
  • Long-term opportunity within power generation

This is a great opportunity for engineers who want the technical challenge of power generation work, without the constant customer pressure and disruptive call-out pattern often found in traditional field service roles.
