Position Overview
Research Assistant in Nature‑Based Solutions (NbS) for grey‑green infrastructure, 0.5 FTE, fixed‑term contract (part‑time). School of Engineering and Built Environment, Liverpool John Moores University. The role contributes to the Med‑IREN project (Mediterranean Critical Infrastructure Resilience Engineering with Nature‑Based Solutions).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in research on NbS integration within grey‑green infrastructure to enhance the resilience of regional and European supply chains.
- Develop zero‑cement concrete material compositions using regional resources and evaluate their performance.
- Conduct geopolymer synthesis and bacteria‑based self‑healing system testing, along with durability tests on concrete samples.
- Support project activities, promote research outcomes, and contribute to publication and presentation work.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Self‑motivated with proven engineering knowledge in building and infrastructure development aligned with SDGs.
- Strong teamwork skills and experience in collaborative research environments.
- Knowledge of construction materials, on‑site and lab testing, computational modelling, and sustainability assessment tools preferred.
