Position

We are looking to recruit 3 Healthcare Support Workers to join our busy team at Cherrywood Ward in Dartford.

We are Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust, dedicated to the mental health and wellbeing of people across Kent and Medway.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver an effective and competent level of care under the guidance and supervision of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and as determined by the patient’s care plan.
  • Record and report accurately any changes related to the patient’s current behaviour and/or risks to the Nurse/healthcare professional in charge in a timely manner.
  • Record care given and report omissions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support and carry out therapeutic observations as required and instructed.
  • Promote a healthy, safe and secure environment by adhering to Trust statutory health and safety requirements and maintaining confidentiality of information at all times in compliance with Trust policies, procedures, protocols and guidance.
  • Support new team members.
  • Demonstrate a professional approach to work and abide by the Trust values.
  • Provide comfort, compassion, empathy and time to patients and their carers, family and loved ones.
  • Undertake and maintain all essential training to the role.
  • Work confidently in a variety of environments which present different challenges whilst continuing to act in a professional manner.
  • Balance all aspects of the job role across the seven‑day working pattern.
  • Be flexible and responsive to competing demands.

Benefits

The High-Cost Area (HCA) allowance, also referred to as London Weighting, is a payment made to employees who work in London and surrounding areas. As this post is based in Dartford, Gravesham or Swanley, the successful applicant will receive an additional payment each month of 5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £1,346 per year and a maximum payment of £2,270 per year (2026/27 figures).
