Overview
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an entry‑level Healthcare Support Worker who will undertake an 8‑month Apprenticeship, leading to a Level 2 Health and Social Care Apprenticeship and a permanent Band 2 post.
Eligibility
Applicants must be aged 16‑21, or up to 25 if a care leaver or in prison.
Responsibilities
- Provide person‑centred care in a clinical area across one of the Trust’s four hospitals.
- Assist nursing staff with routine clinical tasks and patient support.
- Follow infection control, safety and Trust values in all activities.
- Attend structured training sessions and complete assessments.
Training & Development
The Apprenticeship lasts eight months, with final assessment at month 12. Successful completion awards a Level 2 Health and Social Care Apprenticeship and a permanent Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker post. Apprentices receive a full apprenticeship wage for up to 12 months, fully paid study time and professional support.
Qualifications & Skills
- Pass the Care Certificate and Functional Skills Level 1 (and Level 2 where required).
- Strong communication, enthusiasm, compassion and motivation.
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
