As part of the MDT team in Hertfordshire you will work alongside other Arts Psychotherapists (art, drama, music) to provide exceptional care and support to service users with learning disabilities and complex mental health needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and deliver evidence‑based individual and group dramatherapy, art or music assessment and treatment programmes in various community and inpatient settings.
- Maintain therapeutic alliances with adults with learning disabilities, their families and paid carers, applying trauma‑informed principles and a holistic approach.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to arts therapists, trainees and students.
- Coordinate care and key‑work with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring comprehensive discharge planning.
- Apply psychodynamic formulations and theory to clinical work, communicating outcomes to other professionals, service users and carers.
- Participate in continuous professional development, audit, and the use of electronic care records.
- Engage in operational, professional and clinical supervisions, and determine appropriate supervision models.
Required Qualifications
- Good Honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant health or arts discipline.
- M.A. in Arts Psychotherapy (art, drama or music) or comparable post‑qualifying qualification.
- Significant post‑qualifying professional experience with adults with learning disabilities, including autism, complex mental health needs and profound/deep challenges.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or equivalent UK professional registration.
- Experience working with a range of populations including psychosis, personality disorders, and complex behavioural needs.
- Experience in key‑working, care coordination and discharge planning for service users.
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence‑based practice, CPD and reflective practice.
Desirable
- Previous experience supervising arts‑therapy students or trainees.
- Experience within multidisciplinary community and inpatient teams.
- Experience with carers and families as part of therapeutic work.
- Strong computer competency, including electronic care records and audit tools.
