About the Company

PSJ fabrications, a subsidiary of Wood, is recruiting a Welder Fabricator to join our Sheet Metal Fabrication team based in Bedford.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete all work scopes communicated by the line supervisor in accordance with work pack / job card instructions, including working to engineering drawings, weld maps and WPS’s.
  • Become qualified to a range of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Ensure the safe execution of all welding activities.
  • Report any defects or inspection reports to Line Supervisors in a clear and concise manner.
  • Report any changes in scope of work to the Line Supervisor so a safe re‑assessment of the work scope can be completed.
  • Support overall delivery of company goals and schedule.
  • Support team performance and development by sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Participate in and carry out toolbox talks as required.
  • Maintain awareness of physical condition of plant and equipment to ensure technical integrity is maintained.
  • Maintain awareness of personal safety, that of others, and the risks associated with the scope.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Time served, with apprenticeship and/or vocational qualification.
  • Experience fabricating with thin gauge sheet metal.
  • Ability to understand relevant fabrication drawings, weld maps and WPS’s.
  • Must be able to pass a Weld Test associated with the materials used on site.
  • Good technical knowledge with the ability to complete all work scopes in line with the applicable work packs.
